My Books of 2016

Below is a list of the books I have either read or listened to the audio book last year year along with one thing I learned from each book! Feel free to comment below if you have any questions or recommendations!

  1.  The Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss (Music is magical)
  2.  A Wise Man's Fear - Patrick Rothfuss (There is a series that can tie with Harry Potter even for Harry Potter mega fans - "Kingkiller Chronicles")
  3.  The Slow regard of Silent Things - Patrick Rothfuss (Sometimes stories don't have to be stories.  Sometimes a story can just be following someone's day to day life.  And sometimes characters can just be personified objects.)
  4.  Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card (We need to put more value on our children and stop trying to manipulate them.)
  5.  Ender's Shadow - Orson Scott Card (It is possible for an author to nail writing the same book from two different perspectives.)
  6. Game of Thrones - George R.R. Martin (Historical fiction doesn't have to take place on earth or within our realm of time.)
  7. The Martian - Andy Weir (Hard scifi is extremely confusing and extremely rewarding.)
  8. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - J.K. Rowling (J.K. Rowling cannot fail.)
  9. Lying - Sam Harris (Neil deGrasse Tyson reccomended this book and now I reccomend you read it and that you stop lying.)
  10. Bossypants - Tina Fey (This book taught me to be more confident and less apologatic. A must read for every woman and a should read for everyone else.)
  11. The Giver - Lois Lowry (Memories and history add value to society.)
  12. Brave New World - Aldous Huxley (A utopia isn't everyone's utopia.)
  13. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs (A writer can mess with the concept of how time passes without affecting each character in the same way.)
  14. Hollow City - Ransom Riggs (It is fun for the reader and the character to solve puzzles at the same time using the same clues.)
  15. If I Stay - Gayle Forman (It is eerie to experience cheery flash backs about characters youw atched die.)
  16. Book in A Month - Victoria Schmidt (I literally learned how to write and finish a manuscipt in a month...even though mine took about two months total!)
  17. Brokeback Mountain - Annie Proulx (Be bold enough to tell the beautiful hidden stories.  This is my favorite love story of all time)
  18. The 100 - Kass Morgan (I read all of the following books by Kass Morgan within the same week directly following watching all three seasons of the TV show "The 100" so it is all a blur to me.  But I highly recommend the TV show and this is the first time I have ever preferred a film adaptation to the books!)
  19. Day 21 - Kass Morgan
  20. Homecoming - Kass Morgan
  21. Rebellion - Kass Morgan
  22. Fun Home - Alison Bechdel (Be a strong independent woman.  Don't be afraid to write stories with warts and all.)
  23. Bridge to Terabithia - Katherine Paterson (Imagination gives us fun. Friends give us life.)
