Songwriting Tip of the Week #4

"The Hook Book"

The Hook Book with save your songwriting life!  You can carry around a little notepad, or simply use your phone for a hook book.  A hook book is just a place where you store all of your little song ideas, song hooks, phrases, ideas, and rhymes that catch your attention.

Hook books are also great to take to cowriting sessions! Imagine you're sitting down with your cowriter and neither of you know what to write, so you pull out your hook book! And you flip through it, until you find an idea that both of you like.

Something important to remember when keeping a hook book, is not to filter anything; write down everything! There are NO stupid ideas in a hook book. You never know what silly little line could lead to an incredible song idea.

Get out your phone or notepad and start writing down all of those ideas before you forget them!
