Songwriting Tip of the Day #26

Tip #26: Write a song based on your favorite character

Think of your favorite character (book, movie, TV, etc.)  Do they have a story that could be used in a song?  Is there a song you could write that the character would sing? Do you have something you would like to sing to the character?  Take this fictional personality that you know so well and turn it into a song!

I did this with the Netflix original, Bojack Horseman.  I thought, what would I like to say to this character?

Here it is!

"Has Been"

Verse 1
You think your golden days are a faded haze
New memories can't refill the thrill of replays

PreChrous
Don't you say that you're changin'
When you're just trying to be who you've already been

Chorus
Everybody has been somebody
And there's still someone
They're gunna be
Even when you think you're a has been
To the world,
You're still a star to me

Verse 2
You wanna move back up but you fall back down
Pretend you're young again yeah you like how that sounds

PreChorus
Time just flows in one direction
So don't live life in projections, oh

Chorus
Everybody has been somebody
And there's still someone
They're gunna be
Even when you think you're a has been
To the world,
You're still a star to me

Bridge
Common grab tomorrow lift it high
Its time to take the past and say goodbye

Chorus
Everybody has been somebody
And there's still someone
They're gunna be
Even when you think you're a has been
To the world,
You're still a star to me
